WAVES WIN + BACKSTROKE GOLD + GLOW NIGHT
Waves Families,
If you’re watching Norway vs England right now, you already know we’re only at HALFTIME... which means there’s still plenty of game left, plenty of drama brewing, and plenty of questionable referee decisions to yell about. But while they’re sorting things out on the pitch, your Westridge Waves already handled business.
FINAL SCORE:
- Westridge Waves (WRWST): 2495.5
- Veteran’s Park Marlins (VETS): 1613.5
A decisive, splashy, absolutely glorious WIN.
And speaking of big wins… we need a moment, a real, stand‑up‑off‑the‑couch, yell‑loud‑enough‑to‑startle‑the‑neighbors moment, to celebrate today’s HUGE RECORD BREAKER:
Zaiah Lesly (14) 50 Backstroke 29.75
This isn’t just fast. This isn’t just “wow.” This is historic.
Zaiah broke a record that has stood since 2006, TWENTY YEARS of swimmers trying, chasing, dreaming, and getting so close… until today. A two‑decade‑old record, gone in a flash of backstroke brilliance. If Norway had Zaiah in the back line, England wouldn’t have gotten past midfield.
All other meet results are attached for your scoreboard‑scrolling pleasure.
Now, let’s talk HEART.
Today’s Volunteers of the Meet go to Marina Owusu and Lauren Doyle, our Head Timers. And listen...these two don’t just volunteer. They SHOW UP. They bring extra stopwatches, extra calm, extra kindness, and extra magic. They are the kind of volunteers who make a meet feel steady even when the pool deck is buzzing. They support our lanes, our swimmers, our coaches, and our sanity. Marina and Lauren, you are the heartbeat of our timing crew, and we are endlessly grateful for the way you lift this team.
And while we’re giving thanks, a huge shoutout to Lisa Amaya for the incredible photos from today’s meet. You can find those in the link provided, and trust me, they’re worth the scroll. Team Pictures - Westridge Waves

See you on the pool deck!
